The We Can't Police Our Way Out of the Pandemic group emerged in response to concerning and problematic public health and state interventions aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19. Established in 2020, we’re a group of activists, researchers, frontline workers, students, community members, and/or artists who meet to discuss and collaborate on various projects to challenge and resist against colonial and punitive responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our guiding principles are grounded in anti-colonial, abolitionist, anti-racist, and anti-police perspectives. We take guidance from the learnings of HIV organizing and advocacy and want to forefront the voices of those who have resisted, and are actively resisting the on-going stigma and state oppression towards those living with HIV.
